The Before And After Of Botox In Men

The Before And After Of Botox In Men
August 2022

If you’re over the age of 30 then chances are at some point in your life you’ve looked in the mirror and you haven’t liked what you’ve seen. With aging comes fine lines, wrinkles, and just an overall shift in your body and how it looks. As you get older the signs of aging become more apparent and if you’re one of the unlucky ones then this shift can happen primarily in your face. The good news? There are treatments out there to help with the appearance of wrinkles on the face, neck, and pretty much anywhere on the body you can think of (see, science can be cool sometimes). One of these treatments is botox. When you think about botox you might immediately go to any scene in a comedy movie where a character’s face is pretty much frozen in one expression because they’ve had too much botox done. Well, this isn’t the botox we’re talking about; there’s a reason they tell you not to believe everything you see on TV. No, the botox we’re talking about can be subtle and used just to help soften the effects of aging. But what does this look like in men? Well, let’s take a look.

Before we jump into what botox in men looks like, let’s make sure we’re on the same page about what exactly botox is. Botox is a treatment that uses Botulinum toxin to weaken muscle contractions by blocking the signals sent between your  muscles and nerves. Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin made by Clostridium Botulinum bacteria and is considered one of the deadliest toxins known to man. Now before you let that fact scare you away, used in small doses Botulinum toxin can treat a wide range of medical illnesses, can help with fine lines and wrinkles, and is often referred to as “magic poison.” While botox can be used for a variety of reasons, it is typically used on a person’s face to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and signs of aging. When used properly by a doctor in a controlled setting, botox can be safe and give you the results you’re looking for to help you look younger.

As with any medical procedure or physical enhancing practice, botox can come with its own positive and negative side effects to consider. But don’t let the negative aspects detour you from deciding whether or not botox is the right choice for you. Consider all the effects and make the decision based on your own preference and beliefs! And don’t forget, you should always consult your primary care provider with any questions or concerns you might have! Or, schedule a consultation with a doctor to look at what kinds of botox is right for you. Now, let’s take a look at the common pros and cons of botox in men.

Common Pros of botox in men:

  • Can reduce the look of or completely get rid of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Can improve self-esteem
  • Reduces the look of aging
  • Is minimally invasive
  • No recovery time
  • Can help with acne
  • Non-surgical solution

Common Cons of botox in men:

  • Can have possible side effects ranging from mild to severe
  • Mild: headache, redness/swelling, injection site pain, and double vision
  • Severe: difficulty swallowing and breathing
  • Cost of botox can vary, but based on the area receiving botox it can vary from a couple hundred dollars a treatment to a couple thousand a treatment
  • Results are not immediate (takes at least a week and sometimes multiple treatments to see results)

Now that we’ve covered what botox is and some of the pros and cons of getting botox, let’s talk about what botox in men really looks like. Chances are you’ve seen or you know someone who has had botox and you might not have even known!  As mentioned above, botox can vary depending on the area you are wanting to receive the procedure. And like almost all cosmetic procedures, the results can vary based on the individual person. But, if you’re looking to get an idea of what botox can look like, let’s take a look at some before and after pictures to give you an idea of what to expect.

Deciding whether or not botox is the right choice for you depends entirely on what you want to get out of the procedure and if you think it is the right step for you. If you’re interested in botox as a way to help with a double chin, then you might not be in the right place. For problem areas that you think need to lose some excess fat then a simple vaser lipo treatment might be the better choice for you. While botox can help with a lot of things, it can’t make fat disappear. But if you’re interested in removing a few wrinkles to make yourself look younger, then botox is a good procedure to consider. But don’t think that botox will dramatically change your features overnight, so consider the long term use of it if you are considering having it done.

If you’ve read this article and you like what you’ve read about botox and still think it is a procedure you would like to have done, consult your primary care provider to make sure botox is right for you. If you have any questions on the procedure, its risks, or you just want a second opinion, scheduling an appointment with your doctor to go over the details is a great way to get more information from a reliable source. It also doesn’t hurt to continue to do your own research on the procedure to make sure it is the right step for you. You can also schedule a consultation visit to discuss what kind of botox is right for you. Then, if you’re still on board you can schedule your botox appointment and have yourself looking younger in no time!
